Just four blocks north, adjacent to Johns Hopkins Hospital, the East Baltimore Biotechnology Park has broken ground. This is one of the largest planned research parks and mixed development projects on the East Coast. Officially named the "Science & Technology Park at Johns Hopkins", it is part of an 80 are, $800 million urban development initiative led by the City of Baltimore in partnership with Johns Hopkins Hospital and the communities of East Baltimore.

Just one block west on Washington Street, one and a half acres have been cleared for an upscale mixed use, residential and commercial center with high-end retail stores and services, such as Trader Joe's, Barnes & Noble, and Panera Bread.

On Castle Street, developers are working on Hopkins Row, where ultra-modern glass and steel homes start at 850,000!
